DirecTrack to Teaching Program & APARC’s Teaching Pathway Program Present:

Asian American and Pacific Islander Teacher Panel
Asian American students are one of the fastest growing student populations in Minnesota’s urban school districts.  However, there is a lack of AAPI teachers and leaders reflected in the classrooms and school systems; only 2.5% of all teachers in Minnesota are Asian American.

The focus of the panel is to discuss the need for a more accurate and positive representation of Asian American and Pacific Islander teachers in our education system.  The panel will introduce AAPI students to not just traditional teachers but transformative leaders who go above and beyond teaching inside and outside of the classroom.  Being a teacher is a more than just conventional teaching, teachers are social change agents and can directly impact systemic changes.  AAPI students deserve to have teachers who share their backgrounds and can serve as examples of what is possible.

Light dinner provided.  Open to all students.

When: Wednesday, November 29th 5:00-7:00 pm
Where: Walter Library, RM 402 (East Bank)
